Some hypothetical situations in a hospital are considered in which a biomedical equipment technician might be legally liable for patient injuries. It is expected that clinical engineers and other biomedical equipment personnel may face more negligence-based liability suits in the future. Criteria in liability cases and an example are considered. Different degrees of liability of employees and professionals are emphasized.
