摘要
Multicomputer systems, including networks, that are going to realize their full potential for fault tolerance combined with cost effectiveness will need to employ decentralized control. In particular scheduling decisions will have to be decentralized decisions. Mechanisms that have been proposed for decentralized scheduling are surveyed. Details (including some simulation results) are given for a distributed load balancing scheme that employs latest reported status. This scheme minimizes bandwidth requirements, while evenly spreading the work load.
