An output feedback controller based on the singular perturbation model via the Schur approach is presented. Equivalent singular perturbation models for global and each decoupled subsystem are obtained via the Schur decomposition technique in order to generate global and local output feedback control signals. The effect of subsystem state interactions is minimized by employing a global signal while the transient response of the system is regulated using a local control signal. Stability analysis of the proposed control scheme is discussed. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme based on the singular perturbation model is studied by considering an interconnected power system comprising two generating units. Simulation results are presented.
