Preparation of β-SiC nanostructured powder by sol-gel process

The monodispersed spherical β-SiC nanostructured powder was synthesized by a sol-gel process derived from the hydrolysis of a mixture of two organisms. The gel powder become monodispersed spherical β-SiC nanostructured powder by heat treatment at 900-1300 °C in Ar atmosphere. The sizes of β-SiC powder of high purity and low oxygen are about 10 nm. The content of β-SiC is 99.92%. The morphology, structure and grain size were studied by XRD, TEM and Raman spectroscopy. The process of the growth mechanism of the β-SiC nanostructured powder at different temperatures was discussed.
