Analysis of the structure of 08Kh18N10T welded joint

A comparative research of dislocation structure and phase composition of the base metal, near-seam and weld are carried out for specimens of 08Kh18N10T steel. The electron microscopic and x-ray diffraction analyses of welded structure showed that the redistribution of alloying elements in the seam volume and near-seam zone occurs. This induces the qualitative and quantitative changing in phase composition as compared with initial state. An amount of TiC increases and great amount of α-phase, localized at the γ-phase grain boundaries, appears. These factors as well as low residual stresses and grain refinement cause high mechanical properties of weld metal.
