Squeeze casting is a metalworking process that combines forging and casting in a single operation. It is sometimes also called liquid metal forging. Because of the pressure applied to solidifying metal, it is possible to squeeze cast a variety of precision shapes having improved structure, mechanical properties, and surface finish at reduced cost in a number of ferrous and nonferrous metals and alloys. The process is best used for components whichgenerally have a minimum section thickness of 1/4 in. or more.
