摘要
A new low-pressure die casting system, conceived by GAAA in France, is described in which the molten metal is supplied to the dies from a single furnace containing an electromagnetic pump to deliver aluminum under controlled conditions of flow rate and metal pressure. Moreover, the offset arrangement of the furnace provides easy access to the furnace and eliminates transfer of heat to the dies. The use of the GAAA system greatly increases productivity and reduces the capital investment per unit of production. A production gain of at least 1. 5X compared to air-pressurized equipment is realized by causing secondary operations on the second die and vice versa. The die filling time and the sprue emptying times are decreased, further increasing production and gaining other advantages. The investment and operating cost relative to permanent mold casting is comparable, but higher quality castings are producted.
