摘要：

Coal water mixture (CWM) has many advantages for storage and handling of coal, and the use of CWM as an alternative for heavy oil is considered to be feasible. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. started a research program to develop CWM technology for power plants in 1981. This MHI CWM project aims at developing CWM production, transportation, storage and combustion technology. This paper presents the technical features of CWM, based on the results of large scale production and combustion test facilities and also discusses a prospect of CWM utilization in Japan.
