This paper describes the design and performance of two configurations of passive, X-band, ferrite-diode limiters having peak- and average-power capacities of 100 kW and 100 W, respectively. These values represent an increase of approximately 10 dB over reported state-of-the-art values. The first configuration consists of a subsidiary resonance high-power ferrite stage employing parallel- and vertical-pump instabilities and a high-power diode limiter. The second configuration employs the above high-power ferrite limiter followed by a laminar ferrite-dielectric structure and a medium-power diode limiter.
