According to the requirements proposed by 1000 kV UHV AC demonstration project from southeastern Shanxi province to Jingmen in Hubei province, including the mechanical, electrical and seismic-resistant properties of post porcelain insulator, a pollution withstand voltage method was used to design the polluted external insulation of post porcelain insulator, and the calculation analysis of earthquake-resistant and the performance evaluation of anti-seismic were also carried out. Post porcelain insulator for 1000 kV UHV AC has been developed successfully by Fushun Electric Porcelain Manufacturing Co., Ltd., whose structural height is 10 m, rated bending failing load is 16 kN, torsion failing load is 10 kN · m, and creepage distance is 30250 mm. This insulator is composed of five single elements, and has excellent mechanical, pollution withstand voltage and earthquake-resistant properties, so it can be used in the area where pollution class is c. The simulations and service experience show that the mechanical and electrical properties of post porcelain insulator can satisfy the requirements proposed by 1000 kV UHV AC demonstration project from southeastern Shanxi province to Jingmen in Hubei province.
