Effect of specific heat of phase change material on heat charging or discharging performance

By enthalpy method, the effect of characteristics of the specific heat of phase change material in its phase change process was analyzed. The method is applicable for analyzing the thermal performance of latent heat storage system. The condition of using the simplified formulae and the results for analyzing the thermal performance of non-ideal phase change material was discussed. The research results show that for practical phase change process these formulae can be used also for ideal phase change process under some conditions. The research is helpful to the design and performance optimization of various latent heat storage systems.
