A checklist included in the US Green Building Council's LEEDTMRating system 2.0 for effective waste management is discussed. Waste reduction and recycling activities include identifying the types of wastes generated in a facility; provision of a central location for storage of recycled materials; diversion of construction and debris wastes from landfills. Facilities are also expected to invest in sustainable products that are not harmful to the environment.
