摘要
The Lotschberg-basetunnel is part of a high-performance rail connection between Central Switzerland and Italy with links to the trans-European high-speed rail system. The 34,6km long installation comprises two single track tunnel tubes, has been designed for 250 km/h and will commence scheduled commercial services in December 2007. The tunnel tubes have been prepared for trains with over-size gauge to transport trucks. The installation has been electrified with AC 15 kV 16,7Hz adopting a contact line design adapted to the requirements of the tunnel and prepared for the conversion to the over-size gauge.
