Logic and protocol analyzers acquire more muscle

The advances in telecommunications and wireless products and the role of logic and protocol analyzers in digital acquisition were outlined. Logic analyzers were described as appropriate tools for data acquisition as they offer high resolution, adjustable setup/hold times and adjustable voltage thresholds. Protocol analyzers perform better as software debugging tools and have powerful statistical analysis capabilities, displays and state levels. Mainframes employing Intel's Pentium III processor and Tektronix's integrated view package are designed for enhancing system performance and adding multimonitor capability to the logic analyzers.
