Measurement and analysis of high frequency noises on low-voltage power networks

Based on the large amount of the measurements in both time and frequency domains the characteristics of the noises in the frequency rang of 100 kHz-450 kHz on the power distribution network are investigated. In this paper, the measurement technique, the measured noises on the practical network and their classifications according to the characteristics, the measured noises over a 24-hour period are presented. In order to investigate the effects of different kinds of noises on a high rate spread spectrum carrier system, some experiments have also been carried out. The noises on low-voltage power networks are classified four types including background noise, periodic noise, burst noise and narrow band noise. The background noise in the band of 100 kHz-450 kHz is white one, and it is the main impairment factor to the low voltage power line carrier communication system.
