This article proposes a novel device and technology for dynamically and hermetically sealing a rotary shaft under various rotational speeds and load capabilities for a pressurised working fluid. The author says that whilst a lot more research and development is still required, it has the potential to be applied to a range of industrial equipment. The current status of this sealing technology is set out in this article in the hope that readers will gain an understanding of what the research is aiming to achieve and be given an opportunity to respond to the author with their comments and ideas. © 2020 Elsevier Ltd
