摘要
The aim of this article is toanalyse linguistic attitudes towards English and Mandarin Chineseamong speakers of Spanish as their first language (L1) and Englishand Mandarin Chinese as their second language (L2).Methodologically, a descriptive explanatory with a mixed approachis employed, with a sample consisting of speakers of Spanish as L1and English and Mandarin Chinese as L2, residing in Metropolitan Lima (Peru). The results show positive attitudes towards both languages and a high instrumental value. Attitudes towards English arerelated to its utility in academic and professional contexts, as well asparental or institutional imposition. On the other hand, attitudestowards Mandarin Chinese are linked to its importance in the work place, the familial interest (heritage language), and the culturalimpact it generates among speakers.
