CHOOSING THE BEST MULTIPLE CRITERIA DECISION-MAKING METHOD

This paper is concerned with formalizing knowledge about discrete alternative multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods and the usage of these methods. The paper describes a formal procedure to assist the decision maker or analyst in systematically selecting the most appropriate method in a particular application. By integrating this procedure with a significant amount of MCDM knowledge and the powerful reasoning and explanation capabilities of a microcomputer-based advisory expert system, a decision-aiding tool providing new input into the decision-making process is developed.
