摘要：
The article assesses the possibility of branch shifts in economy of the South of Russia considering the innovative component of the strategic development of the country and existing technological structure in South Russian regions. Prospects of the rural periphery development are considered in a context of a pursued state policy and the accumulated foreign experience. Advantages and shortcomings of institutional and liberal model of regional economic growth, along with the dirigiste one, are analyzed.
