摘要：
The problem of part misalignment in assembly is described and the use of passive and active techniques reviewed. In particular, the techniques for integrating a force sensor into an assembly system are discussed. Research at UWCC on force control strategies for adaptable assembly is described. The methodology for developing strategies is outlined and illustrated by considering a typical assembly task.
