摘要
A negative relationship between shift work and an increased risk of some chronic diseases has been reported. Available data has shown that biological circadian rhythm disruption plays an important role in developing impaired glucose tolerance and type 2 diabetes (T2DM). This review article concerns the impact of the biological clock, melatonin, clock gene mutations and single nucleotide polymorphisms melatonin receptor gene on glucose homeostasis in experimental and clinical studies.
