摘要
This paper describes a hadron calorimeter prototype with cylindrical compressed-gas ionization chambers. The noise characteristics in two modes of analog signal adding are compared. The calorimeter's energy resolution under pion beams with momenta of 312, 43, and 56 GeV/c was measured. The coordinate' resolution under the 56-GeV/c pion beam was evaluated. The paper outlines ways to improve the device to suit a collider experiment.
