A SIMPLE ENANTIOSELECTIVE SYNTHESIS OF (-)-S-CAMPHONANIC AND (+)-R-CAMPHONANIC ACIDS

摘要：
A four step enantioselective synthesis of 1S- and IR-1,2,2-trimethylcyclopentanecarboxylic acids [(S)- and (R)-camphonanic acid, (-)-1 and (+)-1 respectively] has been achieved from beta-cyclogeraniol, using a Katsuki-Sharpless asymmetric epoxidation and a pinacollic rearrangement as key synthetic steps.
