摘要：

Examining the first and only volume of an anthology of Italian literature of the Risorgimento, 1789-1861, published by Sansoni in 1986, the author focuses on a trio of major poets - Monti, Foscolo, Leopardi - considering some of the qualities and limits Contini found therein, with original observations and evaluations that often stray far from mainstream criticism. The author also suggests several characteristics of the great scholar's interpretative poetics, which along with the stylistic resources of the writers favor their heuristic and cognitive tension.
