摘要
Peel-test investigations about the strength and the long-term stability after an immersion test of pressure-sensitve adhesive (PSA) bonded float glass joints show that the differences in the surface properties affect the adhesion not uniformly, but depending on the adhesive used. The peel-tests have been carried out with PSAs based on acrylic and silicone systems after different modifications of the float glass surfaces as cleaning and ion-exchange processes or treatments with hydrophobic organosilane agents. The deviating results compared with conventional structural adhesives lead to the conclusion that the mechanisms of adhesion and degradation have to differ from the up to now postulated mechanisms of conventional adhesives.
