摘要
Several agents have been approved for treating Alzheimer's Disease. Their effects are limited and they do not modify disease progression. Investigation into new approaches targeting the presumed underlying pathogenic mechanisms is a major focus of current research. Anti-amyloid agents are the main subjects of clinical investigation. Tau-related therapies and other alternative approaches are also under development as neuro-protective agents and neuro-restorative techniques. This article describes the various disease-modifying therapies currently under investigation.
