Cast iron is a construction material which is, because of its characteristics and application possibilities, always interesting for technical use. Because of its application possibilities, and especially because of issues that emerge in relation to the use in mechanical constructions, this material is very often an interesting subject of interest of branch public, particularly in cases of welding joints or repairing the broken construction. Excellent possibilities of casting pieces from grey iron, good removal of particles, bearing of significant pressure loads, high corrosion resistance etc., have influence upon the choice of this construction material. Weak elongation under the impact of force or temperature, which is the consequence of its structure, causes frequent breaks on grey iron parts. The subject of analysis presented in this paper is the issue of welding and soldering of joints, repairable welding of grey iron and additional materials required.
