NdBa2Cu3O7-delta was synthesized in oxygen from a stoichiometric mixture of Nd2O3, BaO2 and CuO between 890 and 1070-degrees-C. The resulting material was composed of small crystals of NdBa2Cu3O7-delta (2 to 10-mu-m) and of BaCuO2 as a secondary phase. The effect of the synthesis temperature on the normal-state resitivity, the critical current density and the magnetic susceptibility was investigated. The highest J(c) values (175 A cm-2) were measured in samples treated between 1010 and 1050-degrees-C.
