摘要
This article presents a hoard of coins found in the Castle of Ponferrada (Leon), in an area named "El Bierzo". They were discovered within the walls of the town in the archaeological excavation carried out during the rehabilitation works on the castle. They are a total of 25 coins. The majority date from the Medieval Period of the Crown of Castile and Leon, some are from Portugal and Navarre and others from the Modern Age. The coins span a 400-year period from Sancho II of Portugal (1223-1248) to Philip IV of Spain (1658). The study focuses on archaeological aspects: the coins relate to the specific characteristics of the castle site where they were found.
