摘要
Wide-angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements were used to study the effect of low absorbed doses of gamma radiation, up to 200kGy, on oriented isotactic polypropylene (iPP). The WAXD and DSC measurements on the irradiated samples were performed after an aging of only 16 h at room temperature. The crystallinity of irradiated samples was found to increase, while the peak melting temperature decreased with absorbed dose. The results of WAXD and DSC measurements are explained in terms of the scission of tie molecules followed by the growth of new thin crystal lamellae.
