An analysis of the manufacturing productivity in the State of Hidalgo

This paper analyzes the evolution of change in total factor productivity for hidalguense manufacturing industry by subsector and metropolitan area, using the nonparametric technique called Malmquist Index, for the period 1989 to 2009. Since industrial activity in the state is characterized by producing goods with low value added, positive changes in manufacturing productivity in the study period are expected to be positively driven by the effect of the change in technical efficiency and by the effect of technological change.
