To get more precise informations about the characteristics of gifted clients, a counseling study was undertaken by the School Psychological Service in Ulm, Germany. The sample consisted of all students (N = 41), who were identified as being gifted in the school years 1988/89 and 1989/90. The clientele was analysed in respect to: age, sex, kind of school, grade, IQ, scholastic achievement, leisure time activities, reason for counseling, counseling method and counseling effectiveness. Also it was looked for, if there are sex and school differences pertaining to achievement, intelligence or counseling variables. Finally conclusions are drawn for the counseling practice.
