摘要
The spontaneous chemical evolution of H2 gas on aluminum in an alkaline medium is established as a steady-state consecutive first order reaction. The weight loss, H2 gas evolution rates and an assessment of the adsorbed, Al-Had intermediate enroute to H2 gas evolution are corroborated in the proposed mechanism. The Had, uptake by aluminum is evaluated, while the increase in the activation energy of corroding aluminum at various stages of H2 gas evolution suggests blistering and flaking of the Al surface. © 1990.
