摘要
Staphylococci cause community and hospital acquired infections that have high mortality and morbidity rates all over the world. In recent years, increased methicillin resistance has brought problems in treatment of infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus strains and new treatment modalities are being researched to treat staphylococci infections and to overcome their resistance problem. In this study, our aim was to investigate the susceptibilities of methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains which were isolated in clinical specimens of skin and soft tissue infections of cases that were seen in our hospital of various clinics against fucidic acid, mupirocin, vancomycin and teicoplanin that were also recommended as treatment of staphylococci infections. Disk diffusion method was used for in vitro susceptibility testing. Out of 91 MRSA isolates, vancomycin and teicoplanin resistance was not encountered, mupirocin susceptibility was found as 91% and fucidic acid susceptibility as 87%. So, we can say that in the treatment of skin and soft tissue infections that are caused by MRSA, either mupirosin or fusidic acid can be used alone or in combination with glycopeptides as effective alternatives.
