摘要：
Agricultural research, like most present day science generally consists of short-term studies. A sustainable agriculture, however, requires a long-term field and laboratory approach to determine the complex interactions of soils, plants, animals, climate, and management. Short-term funding and pressures to publish are the major factors discouraging the initiation of needed long term crop and animal research projects.
