PARTICLE IDENTIFICATION FOR A FORWARD COLLIDER-B EXPERIMENT AT LHC

摘要
The requirements for particle identification (ID) in a forward collider B experiment at LHC with 14 TeV center-of-mass energy are summarized. Properties of ring-imaging Cherenkov counters which can give the necessary particle ID are described. Focused liquid and focused gas radiators will be needed to cover both the lower (less-than-or-equal-to 8 GeV/c) and higher (less-than-or-equal-to 110 GeV/c) momenta. The properties of working UV photosensors are reviewed and the new R&D developments, needed to obtain the required performance, are outlined.
