摘要
To minimize evaporation losses during sea-borne LH2 transport, a mobile tank system should be chosen. The effect of the low density liquid hydrogen on the ship design is demonstrated by comparing two LH2 carrier concepts with conventional LNG and crude oil tankers. The comparison illustrates that hydrogen transport is less efficient than LNG and crude oil transport. Since hydrogen is not included in the IGC Code governing the sea transport of liquefied gases, the applicability of this code is discussed. Current research efforts are outlined with respect to large tanks and propulsion systems suitable for maritime applications.
