THE PRAGMATIC TURN IN THE PHILOSOPHY OF LANGUAGE

The article analyzes which series of thinking moves led to the pragmatic turn in the philosophy of language during the 70-es. The logic of different solutions of the key problem about the nature of meaning is expounded. The turning point is seen in the rejecting of words and sentences as main bearer of meaning and in putting the human being and its behaviour the heart of meaning production. Thus a thoroughly new understanding of meaning emerges which is central to the philosophy of language up to present day.
