摘要
Ground subsidence measured during shield tunnelling through soft clay under compressed air for the Calcutta metro construction is presented. The effect of two adjacent tunnels being built with a phase difference between the two is highlighted. The settlement profile is predicted well by an error function distribution. In spite of compressed air and the shield ground loss has been relatively high but the work in the relevant section has been done without major distress to adjoining structures.
