摘要
New phenomena occur in the solution of the Riemann problem for a system of two conservation laws that models three-phase flow in a porous medium. Both the development of a computer program for general 2 x 2 Riemann problems and techniques from bifurcation theory, geometry, and dynamical systems have been essential for the discovery and understanding of the complex features of the model. Using these methods, we construct the global solution for one such model.
