摘要
Proceeding from the nucleotide sequence of the 23S rRNA gene from Thermus thermophilus, the secondary structure is proposed. The corresponding mature 23S rRNA is predicted to contain 2915 nucleotides. Differences, like insertions, base substitutions, compensating base exchanges and extension of helical structures occur in all domains, most of them in favor of G/C base pairs. These features most likely contribute to the elevated thermostability of the molecule.
