摘要
Language as a means of linguistic communication necessarily keeps track of this communication. The fact that, in terms of discourse, we are dealing with two distinct realities (production and language products) allows a dual approach to discursive realities. We will access it through language products. The objective being the description and analysis of language behavior, we will try to achieve this through discourse units that reflect language production. In this article, the study of language behavior, more specifically, the activities of speaking, of keeping silent and of listening, is undertaken through their representation in some discursive units. Even if we do not deal with the language in action here, we can say that the study of the represented language (multiword expressions, proverbs and bons mots) and the language in representation (jokes) can valuably aid the study of language behavior in general. The method of investigation, which takes into account the different dimensions of the meaning of signs, is here called semiology. The total number of analyzed units is 207. The TALKING activity is represented by 83 units, of which only 10 units have a positive referential value and 73 units have a negative value. The activity of BEING SILENT is represented by 70 units including 55 units with positive referential value and only 15 units with negative value. The LISTENING activity is represented by 54 units including 19 units with a positive referential value and 35 units with a negative value.
