ANEURYSMAL CYST OF THE RIB - CASE-REPORT

A 14-year-old male with an aneurysmal cyst of the rib is reported. The patient was studied because of a mass arising on the right upper thoracic area, radiographically detected during a routinary X-ray examination (figure 1). The findings on physical examination were normal, and the patient was asymptomatic. The clinical examination only revealed a palpable tumoral mass in the right supraclavicular tossa. During a surgical exploration in the right hemithorax, appeared a multiloculated tumoral cyst containing blood, involving the first right costal arch, which was almost completely destroyed. Removal "in block" was performed, next to the first rib (figure 2). Anatomopathologic studies revealed an aneurysmal bone cyst (figure 3).
