Compatibilization is necessary for most binary blends which display poor mechanical properties. The addition of an ethylene-propylene block copolymer to a blend of isotactic polypropylene and linear low-density polyethylene alleviates the problem of poor adhesion at the interface. This was observed through the improvement in overall performance of the blend. It was noted that it is not solely the "interfacial agent" which is responsible for the improvement in impact strength of this blend.
