Imaging techniques in the exploration of male breast pathologies

This article reviews the role of different imaging techniques in the exploration of male breast pathologies (mammography, ultrasonography and MR imaging). Abnormalities of the male breast are largely dominated by gynecomastia and cancer, which main characteristics described in the literature are recalled. Through various clinical cases, several rare benign pathologies are also presented. A final chapter is devoted to an update on the choice of different imaging modalities according to the clinical context. (C) 2011 Published by Elsevier Masson SAS.
