摘要
Experience in reducing the hot metal consumption in converter steelmaking is considered. Among the measures examined are those aimed at reducing the temperature drop between the tapping of hot metal from blast furnaces to its charging into converters (e.g., the use of lids on the ladles), and those taken to improve the thermal efficiency of converters (e.g., low slag practice, scrap preheating). The decrease in hot metal consumption resulting from each measure is indicated, and ways in which they can be combined are considered.
