RESEARCHING THE INTERSECTION OF ORIGAMI, MATHEMATICS, EDUCATION AND ART

摘要
This paper focuses on my journey of using the art of Origami as an instructional tool for learning and building mathematical understanding. Study first completed with middle school age children lead to the creation and offering of a college level course that uses Origami as a way to inspire creativity and artistic endeavours while exploring the mathematics inherently linked to the art. Research presented within this work reveals that repeated exposure to the art along with mathematical exploration can have a positive impact on geometric thinking and spatial reasoning.
