ELECTROOXIDATION OF P-CHLOROPHENOL AND P-BROMOPHENOL IN AQUEOUS-MEDIUM

摘要
Poly(oxy-1,4-phenylene) was obtained by electro-oxidative polymerisation of p-bromophenol in aqueous NaOH solution, the yield increasing when the aqueous NaOH was replaced with aqueous KOH or at higher temperature; in contrast, p-chlorophenol dimerised to give the biologically and pharmacologically important 2,7-dichlorodibenzo[b,e][1,4]dioxine.
