The Pushkinskij Ugolok guiding literature, as a significant historical source, possesses a priceless quality: it helps to recall the dilapidated or destroyed monument in a reader's and sightseer's imagination. The guide-books keep in its descriptions and images the specific facts about lots of lo st places of interest; the guide-books help to imagine the historical way of the Reserve in the separate details and entirely. In the article the guiding literature is characterized, the structural peculiarities that are typical for this genre are found and the methodological basis of the guide-books is revealed. The main part of the research is devoted to the period from the beginnings of the first Pushkin places travel notes till the creation of the full-fledged guide-books of the Pushkin State Reserve "The Pushkinskij Ugolok".
