摘要：
This is a typical case report of a general paediatric clinic. By means of differential diagnostic techniques of traditional Chinese medicine a new-born (six weeks of age) is diagnosed as suffering from retention of food. Therapeutic procedures consist of acupuncture and some suggested changes in the life-and nursing habits of the mother. The new-born needed to be treated with acupuncture only twice. The differential diagnosis of umbilical colic is shown in a table.
